Mother of pearl spoon

I inherited a fine mollusk shell from Jane, together with other invaluable tools and materials for silver-making, and decided that this one needed to be used. I cut it into squares with a hacksaw, and then filed one of the squares oval. Setting is as for a large gemstone, in a bezel - the tops of the sides gently pushed in to trap the stone in place - so-called burnish setting. Easy for MOP, because it is workable and can be filed to fit the bezel. But it should be worked with care, because the dust from MOP is sharp and can cause silicosis, so a good mask should be worn
