Byzantine style chain

Cut 40 pieces of silver wire exactly the same length. Form them into elongated ovals. Solder them. Bend them back on themselves, squeezing the centre, and leaving a small opening. Bend and insert the next link. Close the opening. And so on until you wish you'd never started
